Hotel Impossible Season 1 Updates

I am obsessed with Hotel Impossible.  So much so that I wondered how the hotels that were featured on the show.   So I started researching how the shows featured in the first season were doing. For the record, I look at reviews for the last 6 months or so on Yelp and Facebook to gauge how the hotel is doing.

Episode 1: Gurney’s Inn, Montauk, NY

Status: Open
Gurney’s Inn was sold by the Monte family in 2013 to real estate investor George Filopoulos. It’s now called Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa. It has an active Facebook page and mostly positive reviews.

Episode 2: The Penguin Hotel, South Beach, FL

Status: Open
Some decent reviews particularly about some rooms but not others. Has a Facebook page  and is fairly active.

Episode 3: The Hotel New Yorker, Miami FL

Status: Open
Mixed reviews. It has an active Facebook page.

Episode 4: The Purple Orchid Wine Country Resort & Spa, Livermore, CA

Status: Open
Reviews are mostly positive and mostly about spa services and weddings. It has an active Facebook page.

Episode 5: The Ocean Manor Resort, Ft Lauderdale, FL

Status: Open
The tiki bar on site was on Bar Rescue so this is a place that's had some professional help. The reviews are simply awful.  It has an active Facebook page although it seems to be more about the bar than the hotel.

Episode 6: The Hotel Corpus Christi Bayfront, Corpus Christi, TX

Status: Open
Very negative reviews from many people. Mostly complaints about cleanliness and overall quality of the hotel. Has a somewhat active Facebook page

Episode 7: La Jolla Cove Suites, La Jolla, CA

Status: Sold
Property has been sold to a large hotel management firm. Here's a news story: La Jolla Cove Suites, Prospect commercial block Sold

Episode 8: Southern Oaks Inn, Branson, MO

Status: Open
Really awful reviews. They are still open but don't seem to have learned anything.

Episode 9: Fiddler's Inn, Nashville, TN

Status: Open
Very mixed reviews. The negative reviews seem to all involve the cleanliness of the hotel.

Episode 10: Newport Spa & Whirlpool Suites, Newport, RI

Status: SOLD
This was first aired June 25, 2012. A deep search of the internet looks like the hotel put up a lot of it's assets for auction in December of that year. Then, Quality Inn and Suites took over in 2013. Was the guy trying to get Anthony to help him groom the property to sell it?

Episode 11: Dude Rancher Lodge, Billings, MT

Status: Open
Reviews are pretty good - just a few negatives mostly around cigarette smoke smell in the rooms and ongoing cleanliness complaints. A review of their Facebook page shows them putting effort into updating/maintaining the property and lots of events! Pretty active Facebook page.

Episode 12: The Vermont Inn, Mendon, VT

Status: Open
Mostly positive reviews. Looks like a large part of the place has been renovated and they seem to be concentrating on weddings.  Active Facebook page

Episode 13: The Dream Inn, Daytona Beach, FL

Status: Open
A review of their Facebook page shows some very good reviews and that some of those God-awful dolphins have been returned to the hotel. However, it also looks like rooms have been undergoing updates.
